Rhapsody in Blues
30” x 22”
casein & watercolor on Fabriano Artistico h/p paper

I observed this snowy egret ‘dancing’ in the waters at Assateague National Wildlife Refuge. I love watching snowys – I refer to them as ‘Little Dudes’ as they are very comical bouncing in and out of shallow water, trying to stir up little creatures to eat. As I was working on this painting, the overall blue feeling had me humming “Rhapsody in Blue” by Gershwin. And voila, a title as I can’t think of a more perfect piece of music to accompany the movements of a snowy egret!
