I love Scotland, especially the Hebrides. During a painting vacation in the 90’s, I stayed on Mull for two nights, regretting that I had to leave. In 2013, I spent four magical days on Mull before I was to exhibit in Edinburgh at Botanical Images Scotia/Gardening Scotland. Early every morning I encountered this family of greylag geese near the famous shipwrecks of Salen. Mum and dad were very protective of their goslings, hustling them away on the water at the slightest sign of danger. Their parental devotion never wavered; I knew that someday I had to honor their protective spirit.
